Weight Loss and Depression

Weight management is tough enough under the best of conditions but is so much more difficult when you also have to deal with depression. And unfortunately, far too many people struggle with depression. If this were a war, those of you who do this while battling depression would be the Special Forces. You just have to be better than others at handling the stress and frustration that accompanies this weight loss and wellness quest.

We are not exactly sure what causes depression. We do know, however, that it is sometimes a function of genetics and sometimes a result of trauma. Whether the cause is nature or nurture, the best treatment is a combination of medication and psychotherapy. The frustrating thing about the medications used is that you must be patient. What medication works for one often has no effect at all on another. You often have to try more than one to find what is best for you and this can take several weeks or even months, so be patient. The good news is that therapy and medication has proven to be a powerful weapon against depression. If you find yourself in this situation today, why not make today the day you take action? Life is too short and too precious to live under the cloud of depression. See your doctor today and start letting the sun shine in your life tomorrow.
