Cardio & Strength Training: A One Two Punch

Ask Glen!

Q. Glen, What order should I exercise first, strenght or cardio?

A. The order in which you perform your cardio and strength training is not as important as making sure you incorporate both into your routine. Ideally, it's best to keep cardio and strength training separate so you can give your best energy and effort for each type of training. But if you're doing both on the same day, then try to separate the two during the day. For example, start the morning off with a jog, then hit the gym later that night. If you have to combine the two in the same workout, then the order depends mostly on what you're trying to accomplish. For example, if you're trying to build muscle mass, then start off with your weight training workout and finish with cardio

Glen's Bottom Line: Do both!
