Crunch Too Much?

Ask Glen!

Q.Glen, What happens when you stop seeing results in your abs?

A.
Stop doing so many crunches. Instead, add weights to your ab routine and bust your gut only three times a week. The result: You'll shock your muscles into growing and give them the downtime necessary to grow forth and multiply (by six). Try this Zercher situp from Mike Gough, C.S.C.S., owner of optperformance.com. Grab an EZ-curl bar (add weight if you can handle more than 25 pounds for 10 repetitions) and hold it in the crooks of your elbows. Lie on your back, your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Slowly lift your torso to a sitting position. Pause, then slowly lower to the floor. Three days a week, do three or four sets of eight reps with a weight you can lift 10 times at most. See What Happens!
