A Gym Necessity

Ask Glen!

Q. Glen, How can I make my visit to the gym healthier?

A. bring the Ultimate Gym Necessity! A towel.......A towel is your best friend at the gym. Everyone should use proper gym etiquette, and wiping off your machine after you've used it tops the list. Towels are also great for reserving your spot on a certain machine if you need a short break. Yet another great use for a towel is for your own protection from other gym-goers who forgot to bring their own towels. If you have your own towel handy, you never have to worry about having to soak up the previous user's sweat!

Glen's Bottom Line: Protect yourself ! Bring a towel.......

Healthy way to Fry......

Ask Glen!

Q. Glen, I love cooking in butter like frying a egg! any alternatives?

A. A little less butter goes a long way when it comes to your health. A great way to reduce the fat you consume without sacrificing taste is to use nonstick vegetable cooking spray instead of butter, margarine or oils to grease your pans. There are many different flavors you can try. If you're not into the spray stuff, then try experimenting with soft tub margarine instead of butter. Another great way to save some extra fat and calories is to use water or steam for cooking vegetables instead of using butter.

Glen's Bottom: Line:Do not fry in butter!

Beware The Fat-Free Trap

Ask Glen!

Q. Glen, Is fat free good for you?

A. While many times, low-fat or fat-free make good alternatives to the full-fat versions, sometimes these products contain as many or even more calories than the original product. Before you dive into a whole box of fat-free chocolate chip cookies, make sure you read the entire label on the box. Manufactures often replace the fat in the original version with large amounts of sugar. The same rules apply to low-carb and zero-calorie foods. Remember if it sounds too good to be true, read the label!

Glen's Bottom Line: Read the labels...Did you hear me?
